Paddlefish Season in Missouri

March 15 to April 30

Go Head-to-Head with Missouri’s Most Prehistoric Trophy Fish

Each spring, anglers from across the country descend on Missouri for one reason — Paddlefish season. Also known as Spoonbill, these massive filter-feeding fish are famous for their size, power, and one-of-a-kind snagging style.

At All-Out Fishing Charters, we specialize in guided Paddlefish trips during the short but intense season from March 15 through April 30. If you’re ready to battle a true river monster, Captain Steven Kreter will put you on the fish and guide you every step of the way.

How We Fish for Paddlefish

Technique: Snagging

Paddlefish don’t bite bait — they’re caught using a method called snagging, where weighted treble hooks are pulled through the water in areas where fish are known to be stacked.

Captain Steve will guide you to the right depth, angle, and drag speed — increasing your chances of hooking up with one of these legendary fish.

Locations

Our Paddlefish charters focus on top-producing waters, including:

  • Lake of the Ozarks

  • Truman Lake

  • Osage River

All trips are timed around current water levels, dam releases, and fish movement to give you the best odds at a catch.

Frequently Asked Questions – Paddlefish Trips

  • How early should I book?

ASAP. This is a short, high-demand season, and available days go fast — especially weekends.

  • Can I bring kids on a Paddlefish trip?

Yes, but be aware that the gear and fish can be heavy. Strong teens may be able to fully participate; younger kids can still enjoy the experience with help.

  • Do I need prior fishing experience?

Not at all. We'll coach you on how to snag, fight, and land your fish.

  • What happens if we don't catch anything?

We do everything possible to put you on fish, but success isn’t guaranteed. That said, we have a strong track record and know where to go, when to go, and how to improve your odds.
